Making my Halloween costume, I need help.?
I'm making a costume dance tribal belly to wear as a Halloween costume. I bought curtains old in a thrift store to use for the fabric as I have a lot of money to spend and I wonder what is the best way to make a point skirt would be two panels of fabric about 3.5 "by 4.5" each. thanks
There are a couple of ways, but you'll have to do some math first. No problem, because there are online calculators to help you. Say you have a 32 "waist. This is the first circle circumference, waist. Using the calculator linked, the diameter of the circle (from end to end through the center) would be about 10 1 / 8 "and the radio (central point outward edge) would be a little over 5 ". Because the web is 3.5" x 4.5 "the next step is to determine how long you want the skirt to be his best position pattern. Assuming no obvious pattern of fabric that would be strange if reversed, you have a diagonal from corner to corner 5.5 ". This means that if you started a quarter circle in the diagonally opposite corners, the skirt can be no more than 28 "(5.5" = 66 "divided by 2 = 33" minus the radius of the waist 5 "). Tie a piece of chalk on a string of 5" to point to the waist, and again at 33 "to draw on, repeat on the corner diagonally opposite. Now you have a circle skirt with four panels or segments as they are called. If you want a longer skirt, you need to increase the number of segments and draw top of each other through the fabric, a bit like this: ^ v ^ v. You probably want to try this in the newspaper or wrapping paper to develop a pattern and make sure you have enough fabric to make a full circle.
